Through the Racial Equity investment area, NewSchools is investing $1.5 million in innovators with bold ideas to alleviate racial inequities in education. Instead of a traditional grantmaking approach, this is the council, comprised of parents, students, and education innovators, making the decisions.

Wisdom Amouzou

Wisdom Amouzou

School Leader

Wisdom Amazou serves as Executive Director of Empower Community High School, an innovative school that is led by students, guided by educators and co-created with the community in Aurora, Colorado. After graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a B.A. in Communication and a certificate in Leadership Studies, Wisdom became a classroom teacher. He was awarded the 2015 Sue Lehmann Teaching and Learning Award through Teach for America (TFA). In 2016, Wisdom co-founded the HadaNõu Collective. He was a 2017 Camelback Ventures Fellow and winner of the 2017 TFA Social Innovation Award.
