Racial Equity Council

Through the Racial Equity investment area, NewSchools is investing $1.5 million in innovators with bold ideas to alleviate racial inequities in education. Instead of a traditional grantmaking approach, this is the council, comprised of parents, students, and education innovators, making the decisions.

College Student

Rosa is a first-generation college student at Stanford University. As the proud daughter of Mexican immigrants, Rosa strives to help those of similar backgrounds with their educational endeavors. Passionate about promoting both educational and healthcare equity, she hopes to one day combine both of her passions through a career in the medical field. She has worked for GEAR UP tutoring and mentoring college-bound students, performed research on actinide elements at the United States Transuranium & Uranium Registries, and has delved into biology research in France.
