Ryan Aurori is the Director of Finance at NewSchools, where he oversees the organization’s financial strategy and systems to ensure resources are effectively channeled toward educational innovation. With over 15 years of experience in the nonprofit and public sectors, Ryan specializes in building robust financial teams and managing complex, large-scale budgets.
Before joining NewSchools, Ryan served as Vice President of Finance and Grants at Vital Voices Global Partnership, managing the organization’s federal cooperative agreements and global grantmaking portfolio. His career also includes finance policy and budgeting roles within the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), where he directed financial operations for $2 billion in annual agency and public charter school budgets. Earlier in his career, he served as the Director of Finance and Real Estate for D.C. Preparatory Academy as a Broad Resident in Urban Education.
Ryan holds an M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and an M.Ed. in Education Leadership from The Broad Center. He earned his B.S. in Business Economics from Boston College. He currently resides in Maryland where he spends his time wandering through DC’s many museums, tending his garden, and plotting his next board game victory.
