Amy Rodde is a seasoned philanthropy leader who has spent her career building, scaling, and advising high-impact foundations with living donors. She now helps donors and foundation leaders build the teams, strategies, decision-making processes, and succession plans that they need to achieve their desired results. Amy’s clients include some of the nation’s largest and most admired family foundations and collaborative philanthropy funds that are collectively giving away several billion dollars per year. She also works with foundation leaders and donors who are early in their philanthropic journey and eager to make a big impact with a lean team.
Before becoming an independent philanthropy advisor, Amy was the founding President of Valhalla Foundation. She led Valhalla to develop strategies and drive significant outcomes improvement in six issue areas – granting more than $700M. She also built the team, systems, and governance to enable the Foundation’s continuous improvement and scale.
Before joining Valhalla, Amy was a Partner at The Bridgespan Group, where she advised foundation and nonprofit leaders and ultra high net worth individuals for almost 12 years. At Bridgespan, she also led recruiting firm-wide and was a member of the Partner Promotion and Hiring Committee.
Amy started her career at Bain & Company and then went on to work at NewSchools Venture Fund in its early years. Amy has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, a Masters in Education from Stanford University, and a BA magna cum laude from Dartmouth College. She lives in the Bay Area with her husband and three kids, and she serves on several foundation and nonprofit boards and advisory committees.
