Michigan Educator Workforce Initiative (MEWI) ensures Michigan’s schools and students have the diverse, high-quality teachers and school leaders they deserve. MEWI partners with Michigan’s K-12 districts and higher education institutions to design and support innovative approaches to recruiting and developing diverse teachers and school leaders. In 2023, MEWI launched the Talent Together Program, a statewide teacher preparation and certification pathway focused on growing and diversifying the Michigan educator workforce. MEWI also capture insights and learnings to share with systems leaders, policymakers, parents, and community leaders and convenes educators to share best practices, collaborate, and problem-solve.
