Through the Racial Equity investment area, NewSchools is investing $1.5 million in innovators with bold ideas to alleviate racial inequities in education. Instead of a traditional grantmaking approach, this is the council, comprised of parents, students, and education innovators, making the decisions.

Principal

Prior to joining KIPP New Jersey, Veronica was a proud Newark Public Schools teacher and literacy coach for over nine years, serving grades 3–6. In 2013, Veronica became a founding kindergarten teacher at KIPP NJ Seek Academy. She is proud to be able to continue serving the city of Newark as a Principal at TEAM Academy, KIPP New Jersey’s flagship middle school. After almost 19 years serving the beautiful city of Newark, Veronica feels very much a part of the community and still maintains close relationships with many of her alumni. 

“The opportunity to learn about what type of projects are being considered across our country excites me. My hope is that we effectively define equity as a council so we can then leverage a normed lens to make decisions.”
