Racial Equity Council

Through the Racial Equity investment area, NewSchools is investing $1.5 million in innovators with bold ideas to alleviate racial inequities in education. Instead of a traditional grantmaking approach, this is the council, comprised of parents, students, and education innovators, making the decisions.

Education Leader

Angie is an enrolled member of the Klamath Tribes and holds a doctorate in Ethnic Studies. She serves on the American Indian/Alaskan Native State Advisory Council for the Oregon Department of Education and as the Chairperson of the Tribal Advisory Council for the Sapsik’wala (Teacher) Program at the College of Education at University of Oregon. She is also the elected Oregon Indian Education Association representative for The Klamath Tribes. For over five years she was the Director of the Indian Education Program for Portland Public Schools.
