Kayon Pryce

Kayon Pryce is the Founding Principal of the Brooklyn STEAM Center, a groundbreaking public high school situated within the Brooklyn Navy Yard, which is a large industrial park housing over 400 businesses across the creative, high-tech, and manufacturing sectors. His visionary leadership led to the establishment of this school in partnership with multiple organizations, focusing on fostering programs tailored to future-oriented industries and equipping students with college and career readiness skills.

Having emerged from the New York City public school system himself, Kayon is deeply committed to supporting the city’s youth and families through his career in education spanning over two decades. He commenced his professional journey as a teaching apprentice and has since become widely recognized for his collaborative leadership style, embodying the philosophy of “building with and Not for.”

A Jamaican immigrant and a former special education student who was initially directed towards a vocational track, Kayon’s personal experiences have fueled his passion for promoting educational equity, career-connected learning, and economic development initiatives. His expertise has been sought after both nationally and internationally, where he has provided guidance on various educational programs.

With an impressive educational background, Kayon holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, a Masters in Educational Leadership and Public Administration, and a Bachelors in Career and Technical Education. Beyond his professional pursuits, he enjoys traveling the world alongside his high school sweetheart turned wife, together with their two children.
