Van Ness Elementary is a diverse PreK-5th grade school in D.C. Public Schools that focuses on socio-emotional learning, tiered behavioral support rooted in the ​Conscious Discipline program, and student ownership. Van Ness is codifying core elements of its model, including its “Strong Start” practices, and is supporting pilot schools in D.C. Public Schools to implement it. After this initial pilot phase, Van Ness plans to support additional schools within and outside of D.C. to implement core elements of its model.
