Opportunity College

Entrepreneur: Donnell Butler

Opportunity College (OC) provides a model for high schools to redesign their 11-12th grades as a comprehensive early college experience. In the OC model, learners can begin career-connected college coursework as early as 11th grade; students will take OC-designed 3-credit dual enrollment college courses, graduating high school with 50-75% of an Associate Degree, transferable to the college of their choice, including (should they choose) Opportunity College. Students can earn an associate degree and a living-wage job within 6-months of high school graduation. Other students may start after high school to get their degree and a job by 14th grade. OC embeds on- and off-ramps for students to earn stackable credentials that are both valuable to getting good jobs and efficiently map to college degree requirements.
