Instituto Mundo Verde, a project of Mundo Verde Public Charter School, is a learning solution that reimagines literacy and language arts instruction and makes inquiry-based dual-language immersion available to more Black, Latino, and low-income students. Instituto Mundo Verde has three integrated components. Professional development designed to recruit and train non-traditional candidates into the field of education and deepen the teaching practice of all teachers. Project-based humanities curriculum and units of study specifically designed to be implemented in two languages – reinforcing/transfer of cognitive skills across two languages, learning through dynamic projects and aligned to language, common core language arts, science, and social studies standards. They are also redesigning their dual-language bilingual training and curricular materials to explicitly address and include critical race-pedagogy.
