How do we ensure that ed tech tools are reaching and impacting students who are most in need? In this virtual convening, Dr. Ed Greene will discuss how ed tech developers can help support young children from all backgrounds and income levels in having access to high quality ed tech tools. Dr. Greene will draw on his extensive experience in child development, early learning, and children’s digital media environments to provide examples of ed tech tools and programs that have been successfully implemented in Head Start programs and high-need communities. This virtual convening will enable developers to better consider the professional preparation needed by educators to integrate ed tech tools in classrooms and ways to support and empower families and caregivers in using ed tech tools at home.
Ed Greene serves as VP for Partnerships and Community Development at the Hispanic Information Television Network (HITN), Brooklyn, NY. Prior to his work at HITN, Ed worked as director of educational outreach for a U.S. Department of Education Ready to Learn Transmedia project. He has been an instructional leadership coach for principals and PreK-2 teachers in Detroit Public Schools for Teachscape. Ed was a senior adviser and consultant to Cito USA and its Piramide Approach to Early Learning, and director of global outreach for Sesame Workshop. Over his forty-year career, Ed has worked directly with infants, toddlers, preschool children, adolescents, and families, as well as in a variety of roles and capacities in the philanthropic, private, and public sectors and higher education. He is a former board member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the High/Scope Educational Research Foundation, and currently serves on the boards of the McCormick Center for Early Childhood Leadership and the Coalition for Quality Children’s Media. Originally from Inkster, Michigan, Ed completed his B.Mus.Ed at DePauw University; his M.A. in Child and Human Development at Pacific College; and his PhD in Early Childhood and Elementary Education at Indiana State University.
