Education First is a mission-driven strategy and policy organization with unique and deep expertise in education improvement. We partner with practitioners, policymakers, funders and advocates to design and accelerate policies and plans that help all young people— particularly students in poverty and students of color—succeed in college, careers and life. This organization was part of our investments in “”Service Providers,”” organizations that provided professional services for schools and districts to redesign various parts of their education offering.

Education Reform Now (ERN) builds networks of progressive champions, allies, and supporters across the political & policymaking arenas to expand what works and change what is broken in the public education system. The Leaders of Color Initiative seeks to alleviate the barriers to entry for elected leaders of color. ERN supports participants through the candidate lifecycle–from candidate identification to training to support when in office.

Emerging Leaders in Technology and Engineering (ELiTE)

ELiTE increases equity, opportunity, and readiness for STEM-related postsecondary pathways for students attending public schools serving majority low-income Black and Latino populations. As a burgeoning model provider, ELiTE partners with high schools over two to three years to provide college and career advising along with STEM course electives to better prepare students of color for their transition to college. Through a site-based coordinator, ELiTE offers schools three components: STEM curricula, instructional and leadership support, and college/career advising.

Excel Academy Charter Schools

Excel Academy Charter Schools is a network of tuition-free, public charter schools serving the Massachusetts communities of East Boston and Chelsea. It was founded to address the severe academic underperformance and low college matriculation rates of the student populations in these neighborhoods. This organization participated in the first cohort of our ‘Transcend+NewSchools Collaborative’ – a multi-faceted nine-month program that guided districts and charter network leaders through a process to reimagine their schools.
