Live from Summit 2013: Hour of Power Two

May 1, 2013

Welcome to Summit 2013’s second Hour of Power networking session. As conference participants continued to network over snacks and much-appreciated caffeinated beverages, they also got the chance to learn more about some more of the innovative companies helping to drive student achievement.

Certainly the folks with the best seat in the house – or rather outside in the sunshine of the hotel’s patio – was the team from Playworks Training. Having found that the majority of bullying and discipline-related incidents occur during students’ free time, such as recess, Playworks Training has developed a unique model to support a positive school climate.

Another exhibitor was SchoolRunner, which is currently “in beta,” but has already garnered enthusiastic praise from educators. Schoolrunner is a tool to help educators visualize and analyze student attendance, academic and behavioral data all in one place.

Beyond 12 was also informing the crowd about their organization. A national nonprofit organization founded in 2009, Beyond 12 works to increase the number of traditionally underserved students who earn a college degree. By integrating personalized coaching with intelligent technology, Beyond 12 bridges the gap between K-12 and higher education to ensure that all students succeed in college.

Check out all of these pioneering companies!
