Sara Hickman

2008 Summit Events Director

Sara Hickman is the 2008 Summit Events Director, where she manages planning and logistics for the annual NewSchools Summit and related events. She brings to NewSchools extensive project management, event management, and communications experience.

Prior to joining NewSchools, Sara served as Director of Corporate Communications at LeapFrog, a leading designer and developer of innovative, technology-based educational products. She has also spearheaded communications, marketing and corporate operations at QuadraMed Corporation, a healthcare information technology consulting and software company. In addition to her extensive communications background, Sara has also coordinated numerous high-profile events as a special events consultant with the Archer Group Washington, D.C. and as a senior program officer with the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, in Washington, D.C., Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and Johannesburg, South Africa. She started her career as a staff assistant for Senator Christopher Dodd at on the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Sara graduated from Smith College with a bachelor’s degree in Government and French Studies. She also earned a Master’s in International Relations and International Economics from The Johns Hopkins University School for Advanced International Studies.
