Michael Hassid

Assistant Controller

Michael Hassid is the Assistant Controller at NewSchools Venture Fund's San Francisco headquarters where he administers the fund's financial activities including complex general ledger, grantmaking, banking, and accounts payable.

Michael has extensive experience in nonprofit accounting and administration, project management, human resources, payroll, and information technology—among other things. Prior to joining NewSchools, Michael was the Assistant Controller at Common Sense Media, a national nonprofit organization focused on media literacy, and Business Manager at the Collaborative for High Performance Schools, a nonprofit working to improve public education by enhancing the environment in which learning occurs.

Michael holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of California at Berkeley and is currently pursuing his M.B.A. at the Masagung Graduate School of Management at the University of San Francisco.
