Gwen Baker

Gwen Baker is Director of Community and Data at NewSchools Venture Fund, where she oversees the organization’s efforts to build community, share knowledge between the entrepreneurs it supports, and assess the impact of NewSchools’ work across the portfolio.

Gwen has extensive experience in the areas of knowledge management, human performance and learning, operations, and management. She began her career at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) working with a clients around the globe and in a number of industries building performance-based learning solutions. During her tenure at Andersen, she was an Andersen Fellow at Northwestern University’s Institute for the Learning Sciences, an interdisciplinary graduate program focused on applying principles of cognitive and computer science to education and business environments. After a post at an Internet startup where she served as Director of Customer Experience, Gwen spent nearly seven years at Teachscape, a professional learning company serving classroom teachers and instructional leaders. There she held several positions including Vice President of Teaching and Learning/Product Development and Sr. Vice President of Operations.

Most recently, Gwen was Director of Knowledge Management at New Visions for Public Schools, the largest school reform organization in New York City. At New Visions, she oversaw the initial development of the KnowledgeBase, a site designed to build community, share resources, and publicize and share school reform efforts throughout the city. Gwen received her undergraduate degree from Ithaca College and her master’s degree from Northwestern University.
